Jorge Cortes, M.D.
Jorge Cortes, M.D., is deputy chair and professor of medicine in the Department of Leukemia at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston Texas where he directs the CML Program. Dr. Cortes received his medical degree in 1986 from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Mexico City, and has been at MD Anderson Cancer Center since 1991. Dr. Cortes, whose clinical interest focus on new drug development and the management of patients with myelodysplastic syndromes, acute and chronic leukemias, and myeloproliferative disorders has authored over 400 peer-reviewed medical publications. He has received numerous awards including the Faculty Scholar Award from MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2003, the Annual Celgene Young Investigator Achievement Award for Clinical Research in Hematology in 2005, The Dr. John J. Kenny Award from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2006, the Service to Mankind Award from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in 2007, and the Otis W. and Pearl L. Walters Faculty Achievement Award in Clinical Research from MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2007. Dr. Cortes is chief editor of Current Hematological Malignancies Reports and Clinical Leukemia and serves in the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Leukemia, Clinical Cancer Research, Leukemia and Lymphoma and the American Journal of Hematology.

Andrew J. Dannenberg, M.D.
Andrew J. Dannenberg, M.D. is Director of the Weill Cornell Cancer Center. He is also the Henry R. Erle, M.D.-Roberts Family Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Dr. Dannenberg received his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis and served as a medical resident and gastroenterology fellow at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the American Association for Cancer Research, American Gastroenterological Association, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the International Society of Cancer Chemoprevention. Among the honors and awards received by Dr. Dannenberg are the Upjohn Achievement Award for scientific research, the American Liver Foundation Scholar Award and the International Life Sciences Research Foundation Award. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Dannenberg has authored more than 100 scientific articles, as well as edited several books and journals.

Steven M. Dubinett, M.D.
Steven M. Dubinett, M.D., Professor of Medicine and Pathology, Director, UCLA Lung Cancer Research Program, Chief of Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and Principal Investigator for the UCLA Lung Cancer SPORE, was recruited to UCLA from Massachusetts General Hospital in 1988 to direct the UCLA-Lung Cancer Research Laboratory. He has extensive experience in academic investigation, administration, mentorship and peer review. He has received federal peer-reviewed funding for lung cancer research for the past 17 years. Dr. Dubinett is nationally recognized for translational research in the immunobiology of lung cancer. Dr. Dubinett has served as a study section member and Ad Hoc reviewer for the NIH, the VA, the American Lung Association and the American Cancer Society. He has been a member of the NIH Experimental II (ET-2) study section and currently serves on the Cancer Immunopathology and Immunotherapy (CII) study section. He has co-chaired the NCI Lung Cancer SPORE review study section, served as a reviewer for Head and Neck Cancer SPOREs, the EDRN Biomarker Development Laboratory review committee and participated in numerous site visits for NCI program projects. He has been a member of the site visit teams for review of NCI Intramural Programs including reviews of the CCR Cancer and Cell Biology Branch as well as the Cancer Therapeutics Branch. Dr. Dubinett has received competitive awards for lung cancer research including the Cecile Lehman Mayer Research Award, the Helen Neufeld Award and the Career Investigator Award from the American Lung Association. He has served on numerous advisory committees and study sections and is currently a member of the NCI Translational Research Working Group (TRWG).

Eric J. Feldman, M.D.
Eric J Feldman, M.D., is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Hematological Malignancies Service and Weill-Cornell/New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr Feldman received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed a medical residency and oncology fellowship at the Westchester Medical Center. He has served on the faculty at New York Medical College and at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is internationally recognized for his work in the development of new therapies for the treatment of leukemias and related bone marrow disorders. He has led or participated in the conduct of numerous clinical studies, several leading to the FDA approval of a number of anti-cancer agents including, most recently, imatinib in chronic In myeloid leukemia (CML) and lenalidomide in myelodysplastic syndrome ( MDS). In 1999 he established the Leukemia Program at Weill-Cornell/New York Presbyterian Hospital, among the largest in the United States. Dr Feldman has authored over 100 scientific articles as well as served on the editorial board of several journals.

Mark R. Green, M.D.
Dr. Mark R. Green, a renowned expert in lung cancer research and treatment, is a certified physician in Medical Oncology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Green is currently the Gilbreth Professor of Medicine Clinical Oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), and head of the Respiratory Disease Committee of the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB) Respiratory Disease Committee. He was a member of the Oncology Drugs Advisory Committee (ODAC). Between 1995 and 1999, Dr. Green served as Chair of the Subspecialty Board on Medical Oncology and as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Green has also been Chief of Hematology and Oncology, and Director of the Hollings Cancer Center at MUSC. He was also the Tasch Professor of Oncology and Director of the Cancer Center at the University of California San Diego.

Gary K. Schwartz, M.D.
Gary K. Schwartz, M.D., is Member of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Attending Physician and Chief of the Melanoma/Sarcoma Service in the Division of Solid Tumor Oncology, Department of Medicine at Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases in New York, and Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York. He is a recognized leader in the field of translational research and has been able to bridge the clinical and basic science elements of drug development. He directs the Laboratory of New Drug Development and has successfully translated his preclinical discoveries into cancer therapy using cell cycle inhibitors with and without chemotherapy. He is the Principal Investigator of a series of phase I and II trials that are based on his laboratory studies. His work has extensively been supported by his own peer-reviewed grants. This has included an R01 (now in its 13th year) to develop cyclin dependent kinase inhibitors with chemotherapy for clinical cancer therapy, a RAID and an R21 grant to develop the sphingosine kinase inhibitor safingol with cisplatin, a DOD grant to develop the botanical herb huanglian, and an FDA-R01 to develop imatinib for the treatment of patients with c-kit mutant melanomas. Dr. Schwartz is currently the PI on 5 and the co-PI on 3 clinical trials derived directly from his translational research studies. His contributions to teaching and mentoring have been recognized by MSKCC fellows, who have awarded Dr. Schwartz the annual MSKCC Solid Tumor Teaching Award on three separate occasions. In 2000 and 2006 respectively, he received NCI K24 and K12 Clinical Oncology Research Career Development Awards aimed at the mentoring of medical trainees in translational research. He has served on numerous committees for the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association of Cancer Research and for the NCI. In addition, he has authored or co-authored over 100 manuscripts in the field of both basic and clinical cancer research.
